Saint Sarkis Monastery of Ushi is a remarkable example of Armenia’s rich spiritual and architectural heritage. Located near the village of Ushi in Aragatsotn Province, the monastery dates back to the 5th–13th centuries and holds great historical and religious significance. It is traditionally believed to be the burial place of Saint Sarkis the Warrior, one of the most venerated saints in the Armenian Apostolic Church, known as the patron saint of youth and love.

The monastery complex consists of several structures, including the main church, a chapel built directly over the tomb of Saint Sarkis, and the ruins of monastic buildings and surrounding walls. The site is nestled against the backdrop of Armenia’s beautiful hills, creating a peaceful atmosphere for pilgrims and visitors alike.

After centuries of natural wear and partial destruction, the monastery underwent a significant restoration in 2004, led by LEVGUK CJSC. This restoration project played a crucial role in preserving the architectural integrity of the site, ensuring that future generations can continue to connect with its spiritual and cultural legacy.

Today, Saint Sarkis Monastery of Ushi stands not only as a place of worship but also as a monument to Armenian resilience, faith, and history.
