Dashtadem Fortress is a remarkable example of medieval Armenian military architecture, located in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. Originally built in the 10th century and later renovated in the 19th century, the fortress features thick basalt stone walls, a distinctive circular keep, and rare inscriptions in both Armenian and Arabic, reflecting the region’s diverse historical influences. Strategically positioned on a hilltop, it once served as a vital defensive structure guarding important trade and military routes.

From 2006 to 2017, the fortress underwent a comprehensive restoration led by LEVGUK CJSC. The restoration project focused on stabilizing the ancient structure, preserving its original design elements, and making the site accessible to visitors while maintaining its historical authenticity. Thanks to this decade-long effort, Dashtadem Fortress has been revitalized as a cultural and historical landmark, offering valuable insight into Armenia’s architectural and military heritage.
